How We Got Started
"I was tired of watching brilliant founders get screwed over by lawyers who didn't understand their tech or talked down to them. So we built something different."
Back in 2018, our founding partner Sarah had just left a big Bay Street firm where she'd spent years translating legal jargon for confused startup founders. She figured there had to be a better way - a firm that actually spoke their language and didn't charge $800/hour for a boilerplate NDA.
Turns out, she was right. We started with three lawyers, a shared desk situation, and a promise to never use the phrase "per our conversation" in an email. Eight years later, we're still keeping that promise (mostly).
